Apart from that, thousands of euros and other surprise prizes!

The stakes are high, and so the bar is raised every year.

HOW DO YOU ENTER THE RACE?

The first stage is an online challenge on the official site, www.mecaniculanului.ro, where the participants solve a preliminary test. The first 50 in each category qualify for the finale, where, for a full day, they will sit a written test and undergo a practical challenge.

AUTO MECHANICS

In the AUTO MECHANICS section, after the written test, two finalists have to execute, at the same time, a mechanical operation on an engine installed on a stand, in maximum 20 minutes.
The fastest one wins.

DIAGNOSTICS

In DIAGNOSTICS, the contestants begin with a written test which reduces competitors aspiring to the title to 10.

JEOPARDY!

The road to the trophy goes through a spectacular race under the spotlight, Jeopardy-style (the desks challenge), where the one who answers the fastest, goes on.
A tense moment, with 40 multi-choice questions, each with 3 possible answers.

THE PRACTICAL CHALLENGE

The first two contestants with the most correct answers, go to the practical challenge, the supreme bet:
two identical cars on the stage, with the same fault, which they will then have to identify and repair in…30 minutes!

MECHANIC OF THE YEAR!

It’s a race against the clock and against their own limitations.
The one who is able to start the engine first wins the title of Mechanic of the Year and the great prize.
